Yorktowns are no nonsense, solid fiberglass, hand laid-up cruising yachts.
Most of them have their interior "owner completed" so one does well to carefully inspect the boat to ascertain that the quality of finish is to ones liking.
Differences in quality of finish are ususally expressed in differences in the asking price.
Nevertheless, pound for pound displacement Yorktowns offer excellent if not the best value for money.
Yorktowns do not require special or proprietary parts and are easy to maintain.
Indeed Yorktowns can be encountered in far away places around the world.
TUCANA II measurements are, LOA 43.6’ (includes bowsprit, 39.2’ without it), WLL. 35.5’, Beam 11.9’.
Fuel tankage 70 gallons, water tankage 130 gallons, propane 20 lbs.
Voltage 12 volts, 412 amps.
Holding tank 20 gallons.
Custom molded in solid fibreglass for ocean sailing to first owner's specifications, Tucana II is also set up as a comfortable live-aboard.
She has a beautiful custom interior in 5/16th" tongue and groove solid mahogany over 1" ceder plywood.
She sleeps 6 in three separate cabins, has a central hot air diesel heating system for extended live-aboard sailing, h&c pressure water including shower, 6 man life raft, 2 depthfinders, 5 sails, a 4 cu.ft holdover fridge in a comfortable, roomy U-shaped galley, a separate 6 cu.ft hold-over freezer, a ss three-burner/oven Force Ten propane galley stove, cockpit cushions, full cockpit enclosure with windows, working sails refurbished in 2005 and 2006, A NEW MAINSAIL, 2007 and an autopilot.
TUCANA II is a well-designed and very strongly built, weatherly, comfortable, flush deck, center cockpit, cutter-rigged yacht.
She is equally well suited for day-sailing, coastal cruising or extended passage making.
Built and launched in Los Angeles in 1979 she has been sailed on her own bottom via the Panama Canal into the Caribbean and from there to her current location in Maine.
She has been dry-stored on land for 10 years as well as most winters.
Her flaring clipper bow assures a dry deck under all but the most extreme seaway conditions.
Her flush deck in combination with her relatively long waterline length gives her a motion at sea, speed and underdeck space akin to much lager yachts.
She accommodates six persons in three separate cabins, is very steady on her helm, and is an absolute delight to sail and cruise.
She is a fabulous yacht that offers the next owner many years of confortable sailing/passage making.
A 2005 Insurance Survey report is available on request.
Illness is the reason for selling.
All reasonable offers will be considered.
